About

Stitches for Calm

Stitches for Calm began during a time when I was learning how to live with PTSD.

Like many people who carry trauma, my mind and body often stayed in a state of alert. Sleep was difficult. Quiet moments weren’t always peaceful. My nervous system felt like it never truly rested.

Somewhere along the way, I picked up yarn.

At first, it was just something to do with my hands. A small distraction. But stitch by stitch, I began to notice something unexpected. The slow, repetitive motion of crochet and knitting helped my mind settle. My breathing slowed. The constant noise in my thoughts softened.

Yarn crafts became more than a hobby.
They became a way to find moments of calm.

Stitches for Calm is a space where creativity and healing come together. Here you’ll find crochet projects, knitting inspiration, and gentle reminders that creating with your hands can help bring your mind back to the present moment.

This space is not about perfection.
It’s about taking life one stitch at a time.

If you live with PTSD, anxiety, or simply feel overwhelmed by life, you are not alone. Many people discover that crafting can help regulate the nervous system and create small pockets of peace.

Through crochet and knitting, I’ve learned that calm doesn’t always arrive all at once.

Sometimes it comes slowly…
row by row,
stitch by stitch.
